A Little Bit Of Decadent Sin

So, tonight I decided to celebrate my new internship with a little Devils Food Cheesecake from Junior's. I don't remember the last time I had cheesecake, much less Junior's cheesecake.

I started my weekend right(clearly). It's not in my diet plan but ehh... you only live once right?
YOLO!

How are you spending your weekend?

What I Want: Blazer Edition

While cyber window shopping, as I do so often while I search for a job, I came to the strange realization that I on have ONE wearable blazer. I bought it as a simple black blazer and added studs to it during my DIY crazy era.
Anyway, I started looking at different blazers and fell in love with these three from Forever 21's Faith 21+ line.
I think a colored blazer is important to any Diva's arsenal... can't believe I don't have one!

These two tribal blazers are cute; a printed blazer jazzes up any look.

I must get on (or all three) soon... we'll see how I make that happen :-/

Review: MAC Impassioned- Who Said Chocolate Girls Can't Do Hot Pink?

There seems to be this thought that darker skinned women cannot wear bright lip colors.
No, seriously... it's like some cardinal rule that must follow.

Well, since I'm a fan of not listening to rules, I make sure I break them :-)

I found a hot pink color that I love by MAC called Impassioned.
The color is really pretty and has a creamy texture. It has excellent staying power... actually it's almost like a lip stain.

I Want That Presidential Love...

In my head, these two are my parents too.

In honor of Valentines day, I thought i'd share this with you all.
One night President Obama and his wife Michelle decided to do something out of routine and go for a casual dinner at a restaurant that wasn't too luxurious. When they were seated, the owner of the restaurant asked the President's secret service if he could please speak to the First Lady in private. They obliged and Michelle had a conversation with the owner. Following this conversation President Obama asked Michelle, why was he so interested in talking to you. She mentioned that in her teenage years, he had been madly in love with her. President Obama then said, "so if you had married him, you would now be the owner of this lovely restaurant", to which Michelle responded, "no, if I had married him, he would now be the President."
The First Lady is a "G"!

The 54th Annual Grammy Awards: Red Carpet Hit And Miss (PICS)

The 54th annual Grammy Awards was held yesterday in L.A. While I love music, I can't say that this year's award show did anything for me (like last year). The performances were ehhh, The tributes were VERY blah, and overall I was just not impressed.

There were some highlights such as Adele's 6 Grammy winning sweep, Sir Paul McCartney took the stage twice, and Rihanna gave a pretty good performance. There were also some WTF moments too- including Nicki Minaj's Broadway show from hell "performance", them forgetting to add the late Don Cornelius & Etta James to the obituaries, and the Whitney Houston "tribute"...

Remembering The Icon: Whitney Houston

The icon that is Whitney Houston passed away on February 11, 2012 at The Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Although the reason Whitney passed away is unknown, the music community and the public at large mourns her death.

For me, Whitney was THE voice. No one could sing a song like her. No one could put POWER into a song like she could. No one could quite do what she did.
As an aspiring singer, she was someone who I looked up to and admired. Regardless of her personal issues, Whitney Houston was an incomparable talent with an undeniable
We will always love you Whitney. RIP.

What I Want: BASE "Tomato Plattan" Headphone

I was recently surfing the net and came upon these cute headphones by BASE for Urbanears. These bad boys come in a variety of colors and go for $50 a pop.

Before you go scrunching your nose up at the price, they may be worth the price.
According to the website, they are full size headphones that you can fold down to the size of your fist for maximum mobility. It also comes with a “zound plug” on the earcap, so that your friend can plug in and enjoy what you're listening too also.

Not bad huh? With as much time as I spend listening to music, it might be worth it.

Sidenote: I don't know what it is but all the headphones i've been buying SUCK!

Kristen Bell's Birthday Meltdown On Ellen DeGeneres

Lol, this has to be the cutest interview that I've seen in a long time.
Apparently, she has some kind of obsession with Sloth's and on her 31st birthday, her boyfriend got one for her birthday party.
When she figured it out, the flood gates opened and all she could do was have a melt down cry.

How cute!
I remember Kristen from her show, Veronica Mars, and she's also the voice of the very infamous Gossip Girl.
I love that she's not tainted by Hollywood's nonsense.

An Intern's Frustration: Someone Who Can Identify With The Former Harper's Bazaar Intern (Guest Blog)

In light of the Harper's Bazaar intern scandal, I thought this would be a perfect time to discuss the topic of internships.

While I've been blessed to have great internships, I've heard the horror stories of my peers who intern(ed) and HATED IT! I've even had a few close calls... I have no problem putting in work but what I find is that the entertainment industry as a whole takes COMPLETE advantage of young, eager, and hardworking young people...

My mother (who is absolutely DISGUSTED by the idea of interning) likes to refer to it as my "modern-day slave labor"... Thanks mom.

A few short months ago, I found myself in a bit of a sticky situation (with a prospective internship "boss") and a friend of mine, Saraii, was also in the same predicament. I vented for a little while and yelled "Damn it, I work my 9 to 5, you better cut my check like Beyonce said!"

After we laughed about it, she told me, "You should DEFINITELY blog about this." I would have but she was so passionate about the topic that instead, I proposed that she blog about it. After much coaxing, here is Saraii's piece.

Product Review: Burt's Bee's "Thoroughly Therapeutic" Honey & Shea Butter

For my birthday, a friend of mine bought me a Burt's Bees "Thoroughly Therapeutic" Honey & Shea Butter gift set.

I think she did this because she secretly knows how ashy I am #BlackGirlProblems
*GIGGLE*

Any who, I began using it and, admittedly, at first I was put off by its consistency.
When you first rub it on it has this strange water based feel to it but then gets this weird sticky thing going. I have no idea how else to explain it.
I kept rubbing it into my skin and it dissolved. I thought "Okay... it's alright."

But then, I woke up the next morning, lo and behold, my skin was not dry (like it normally is in the mornings  #BlackGirlProblems). It felt nice and supple, I was shocked!

I definitely recommend this body butter for all skin types.
It isn't too oily and has enough moisture for even the driest skin types. As far as the smell, I like it. I read some reviews where people complained but the fact is, there are no added fragrances so therefore, it smells organic.
